Kyneton Contemporary Art Triennial (KCAT) is a celebration of contemporary art and an exploration of the energies that resonate in place and community. The inaugural KCAT was themed FORCE FIELDS.
Artwork by ten Australian artists was presented at sites and venues all over Kyneton, indoor and outdoor. These sites included an empty shop front, an empty block of land with large pine trees on it, an old foundry, the goods shed at the Kyneton train station, a motel suite, a caretakers’ cottage in the Kyneton Botanic Gardens, an old butter factory, and a loft that once housed medical archives.
The good people of Kyneton generously provided front fences, shop windows, empty consulting rooms, factories in a state of renovation, motel rooms and other sites, allowing audiences to experience a regional town in ways not normally able to be enjoyed.
Performances, workshops and other events took place during KCAT2018, which remain listed in the PROGRAMS + EVENTS section.
